Everything you need to know about choosing, preparing and framing your print.

Choosing your print

What's the difference between photographic and fine art paper?

Photographic papers offer familiar finishes such as glossy, matte, and luster. Our fine art selection includes Photo Rag, Fine Art Baryta, and Platine Fibre Rag, each with a distinctive surface and feel. Choose based on your image and the presentation you prefer.

Which paper should I choose?

Luster is a versatile starting point for photography. Glossy offers a shiny finish, while Matte provides a non-glossy appearance. Metallic adds a distinctive metallic sheen. For fine art printing, choose Photo Rag for a matte surface, Fine Art Baryta for a glossy finish, or Platine Fibre Rag for a satin finish.

Is Metallic paper the same as a metal print?

No. Metallic is a paper with a metallic finish. Your image is printed on paper, not on a metal panel.

What's the difference between acrylic and framed prints?

Our acrylic prints are printed directly onto acrylic using UV printing and include a wooden hanging support. Our framed prints are printed on your selected paper and assembled with a frame, UV plexiglass (lighter, shatter-resistant, archival), and a foam backing.

Preparing your image

How should I prepare my file for printing?

For best results, prepare your image in RGB mode using the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile, and embed the profile when saving your file. Aim for 300 PPI at your intended print size—often referred to as 300 DPI.

Use the original, highest-resolution image available. Simply changing the resolution setting to 300 PPI does not add detail to a low-resolution image.

If your file uses a different embedded color profile, convert it to Adobe RGB (1998) rather than assigning the profile, to help preserve its appearance. If you are unsure about your file's profile, contact us before changing it.

Is my photo large enough to print?

The suitable print size depends on your image's pixel dimensions, sharpness, and intended viewing distance. Use the original, highest-resolution file available. Screenshots and images downloaded from social media may contain less detail than the original.

For example, an 8 × 10-inch print at 300 PPI requires an image measuring 2,400 × 3,000 pixels. Larger prints viewed from farther away may still look good at a lower resolution.

Will my image need to be cropped?

If your image and selected print size have different proportions, filling the entire print area requires cropping. To preserve the full composition, choose a size that matches your image's proportions or contact us before ordering.

Will the printed colors match my screen?

Some differences are normal. Screens emit light, while prints reflect it. Screen brightness, display settings, paper finish, and room lighting can all affect how colors appear. Using the recommended color profile helps maintain a consistent workflow but does not guarantee an exact screen-to-print match.

How does paper choice affect my image?

Glossy, luster, matte, and fine art surfaces reflect light differently, changing how contrast, color, and texture appear. A screen preview cannot fully reproduce the finish of the printed paper.

Framing & materials

What's included with a framed print?

Your framed print includes the image printed on your selected paper, the frame, UV plexiglass (lighter, shatter-resistant, archival), foam backing, and assembly. A mat board is an optional addition priced separately.

What is a mat board?

A mat board is the border between your printed image and the frame. It creates visual space around the artwork and changes the overall presentation.

Is a mat board included in the base price?

No. The base framed-print price does not include a mat board. Selecting this option adds a separate charge, shown before checkout.

Does adding a mat board change the frame size?

No. Your selected frame size stays the same. Adding a mat board reduces the visible image area inside the frame. A wider mat creates a smaller image opening. The preview shows how your image will fit with your selected mat.

Is Matte paper the same as a mat board?

No. Matte paper is a printing paper with a non-glossy finish. A mat board is a separate framing component that surrounds the printed image.

How are your acrylic prints made?

We print your image directly onto 1/8-inch acrylic using UV printing. Each acrylic print includes a wooden hanging support.

Is a paper print mounted behind the acrylic?

No. Our acrylic prints use direct UV printing onto the acrylic itself.

Does my acrylic print include a hanging support?

Yes. A wooden hanging support is included.
